Dodgers Collect 16 Hits in Win over Rochester

The Hornell Dodgers collected 16 hits and cruised to a 15-6 win against the Rochester Ridgemen at Maple City Park. The win improves the Dodgers to 20-21 and the loss takes the Ridgemen to 9-31 on the season.

 

The Dodgers took the lead early in the 1st. John Ricotta (Monroe CC) and Connor Brandon (Concordia-Chicago) each collected RBI singles to give the Dodgers the 2-0 lead.

 

In the 3rd, the Ridgemen got their first run of the game scoring Devin Cerrato (Covenant) on a Dodger throwing error to cut into the Dodgers lead to 2-1.

 

The Dodgers answered back in the bottom end of the with three runs of their own. Ricotta collected a RBI double with, Brandon hit a RBI groudoutm any Ty Reginelli (Wofford) added a RBI single.

 

Joseph Done (Northwester) hit a solo homer in the 4th to cut it to 5-2 but the Dodgers offense got red hot in the 5th and put the game out of reach. Tanner Klein (Mansfield) got things going with an RBI single, Anthony Santoro (Monroe CC) and Mike Wick (Webster) added RBI doubles, and Reginelli scored on a Ridgemen wild pitch. The Dodgers continued the big inning with a Adam Fitzgibbon (Saginaw Valley State) RBI double, a Ricotta 2-RBI double, and a RBI single by Klein to make it 14-2.

 

Tage Johnson (Houghton) collected a RBI double in the 6th to make it 15-2.

 

The Ridgemen cut into the lead scoring three runs in the 8th. Done knocked in one on a single to left with Brooks Pitaniello (Harding) driving in one more with a single of his own. Casey Claflin (Northwestern Ohio) drove in the final run to cut the Dodgers lead to 15-5.

 

In the 9th the Ridgemen added on final run on a Jared Piper (Hillsdale) solo homer to straight away center making the score 15-6.

 

The Dodgers collected16 hits on the night with Adam Fitzgibbon going 4-5 at the dish with one RBI and four runs scored.

 

For the Ridgemen, Done went 2-4 and Piper went 2-5 at the plate.

 

Connor Ryan (Mercyhurst) got the win on the mound for the Dodgers with seven innings of work. He allowed two runs on five hits. He walked one and struck out six.

 

The Dodgers will continue their two game home stand tomorrow night playing the Genesee Rapids at Maple City Park. The first pitch will be tossed out at 7 p.m.
