The Olean Oilers scored five runs in the 1st and never looked back as they took game one of the NYCBL Western Division Championship Series from the Hornell Dodgers 22-6.
After the Oilers scored five in the 1st they scored one in the 2nd. They then scored three runs in the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th. They capped the scoring with four runs in the 7th. The Dodgers scored two runs each in the 3rd, 8th, and 9th.
Eight of the Oilers 19 hits were extra base hits as they scored each of the first seven innings. David Hollins was 3 for 4 with 5 RBI while Mark Koloszvary was 2 for 5 with 5 RBI. Hollins, Koloszvary and David Yanni all hit homers in the contest. Aaron Phillips was 3 for 5 with 4 RBI and earned the win on the mound with five innings of work. Cole Peterson and Alex Griffith both collected two hits.
Tyler Burns (Trevecca Nazarene) led the Dodgers with a 4 for 5, 3 RBI day. He hit a two-run homer in the 8th and a RBI double in the 9th. Adam Fitzgibbon (Saginaw Valley) was 2 for 3 with a two-RBI double and Andy Brahier (Wisconsin Oshkosh) was 2 for 2 off the bench.
The Dodgers and Oilers continue their best of three series on Thursday at Maple City Park. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m.
