Young named NYCBL Player of the week

Michael Young (UMASS Lowell) has been named this week’s New York Collegiate Baseball League (NYCBL) Player of the Week.

 

Young had an outstanding week as he hit .560 with 14 hits. He helped drive in a total of 14 runs while hitting three triples, two home runs and swiping six bases. Highlighting his week was a 4-4 outing against Rome where he had two home runs, 1 triple, 6 RBI’s and one walk.

 

His efforts helped lead the Dodgers to a 4-3 record and are currently ranked #16 in the Collegiate Summer Baseball Rankings.

 

This marks the 5th Player of the Week honor for the Blue and White in 6 total weeks as Chris Cerniglia (Nichols), Jack Brett (Willamette), Matt Mulhearn (Webster) and Connor Bailey (Willamette) all have received the honor previously.

 

Hornell will have back-to-back away games before the All-Star break as they are set to take on the Syracuse Salt Cats today (Monday) at 7 p.m. and the Rochester Ridgemen tomorrow at 7 p.m.
