Hornell Dodger closer Jared Kapturasky (Mercyhurst) has been named the NYCBL Reliever of the Year. Katurasky made not only an impact on the mound but at the plate.
Kapturasky appeared in 13 games out of the pen for the Dodgers. He was 1-1 with six saves in 19.1 innings of work. He allowed just six hits and struck out 31 batters. His ERA was a 0.93 for the regular season. In his two outings in the playoffs he recorded a pair of saves while striking out four in two innings of work.
Dodger head coach CJ Baker knows the importance that Kapturasky brought to the Dodgers this summer. "Kap brings this unparalleled fire to the mound that changes the whole atmosphere in the yard. He approaches every hitter with ferocity that I've never seen before. He was such a huge part of our success this year. Having a closer that can truly come in and shut the door every time he toes the rubber is a luxury that not many teams have."
At the plate, Kapturasky hit .263 with seven doubles, a triple, seven homers, and 36 during the regular season and then hit .391 with 4 RBI during the six games of the NYCBL playoffs.
Yesterday, Ethan Harrison was named the NYCBL Defensive Player of the Year and CJ Baker was named the Manager of the Year. The NYCBL Player of the Year will be announced on Friday.
