The Rochester Ridgemen scored five runs in the middle innings as they defeated the Hornell Dodgers 8-5.
Jordan Stubbings hit a sac fly to score an unearned for the Ridgemen in the 4th inning before the Dodgers answered with a three run 5th inning. After a Rochester error prolonged the inning, Matt Staker (Webster) collected a RBI infield single and Nate Tholl (Webster) followed with a two-run single to left.
A sac fly by Jeremiah Arellano in the 5th allowed another unearned run to score and cut the lead to 3-2. Colin Johnson (Alfred State) hit a sac fly after a Keegan Tyrell (Concordia-Chicago) triple made it 4-2 but the Ridgemen answered with three runs in the 6th to take the lead for good. Stubbings had a two-run single to tie it and Jacob Rhodes hit a single to give Rochester the lead.
The Dodgers loaded the bases in the 7th but couldn't score and the Ridgemen added to their lead on a throwing error and a wild pitch. They made it 8-4 in the 8th when they scored on another wild pitch.
The Dodgers mounted a comeback in the 9th. Staker walked and went to third on a double by Tholl. Joey Faudskar (Wilamette) collected a RBI single to send the tying run to the plate for Andrew Nelson got out of the jam to finish the game.
Tholl and Staker were each 2 for 3 while Tyrell and Matt Fauth (Concordia Chicago) were both 2 for 4.
The Dodgers host the Niagara Power on Tuesday evening. First pitch is at 7 p.m.
