Hefner Collects 5 RBI vs. Genesee

Drew Hefner (Charleston) collected five RBI in a wild contest vs. the Genesee Rapids on Wednesday evening. The Rapids scored five times in the 7th to break a 8-8 tie and defeated the Hornell Dodgers 13-10.

 

Hefner collected a two-run single in the 3rd to give the Dodgers a 4-2 lead. He then followed up a two-run single by Ted Leathersich (UMass Lowell) in the 4th with another two-run single to give the Dodgers a 8-4 lead. Genesee battled back with two runs in the 6th inning and then sent nine batters to the plate in the 7th and scored five runs to take a 13-8 lead.

 

Hornell tried to mount a rally in the 8th. Kyler Kent (Webster) drew a bases loaded walk and the Hefner followed with a RBI single to cut the game to 13-10 and was on 1st representing the tying run. The Rapids were able to get out of the threat and held off Dodgers in the 9th to secure the victory.

 

Hefner finished 3 for 4 with 5 RBI while Nate Tholl (Webster) was 3 for 5 with three runs scored. Leathersich was 2 for 5 with 2 RBI while Kent also registered two RBI.

 

Josh Walker led the Rapids with a 3 for 4 day while three other Rapids collected multiple hits. 

 

The Dodgers head to Sherrill tomorrow afternoon for a 5 p.m. contest with the Silversmiths.
