The Hornell Steamers put together a solid all-around effort as they downed the Olean Oilers 5-3 on Thursday night.

Olean jumped out to a three run lead in the first two innings but Hornell bounced back in the bottom of the 2nd. Logan Hoyt (Alfred State) and Ryan Hill (Mercyhurst) delivered RBI singles and Hoyt scored on a fielding error to tie it up.

Nathan O'Brochta (Fredonia) and Bobby Bartlett (North Park) combined to keep the Oilers off the board the rest of the way.

In the 6th, Hornell took the lead when Tyler Curtis (Fredonia) delivered a RBI single. A couple batters later, Emmanuel McClain (Hilbert) added an insurance run with a RBI single of his own.

O'Brochta earned the win with six strong innings. He allowed one earned run on seven hits. He didn't walk a batter and struck out three. Bartlett retired nine of the ten batters he faced. He didn't allow a hit and struck out three to earn the save.

DJ Stoianovich (Finger Lakes CC) was the lone Steamer with multiple hits finishing 2 for 4.

Sam Polk was 3 for 4 for the Oilers.

Hornell wraps up their homestand on Friday with a 7 p.m. contest with the Genesee Rapids.
