Tyler Curtis (Fredonia) and Ryan Hill (Mercyhurst) had big days for Hornell on Saturday but Dansville put together a pair of big innings en route to a 17-7 victory.
The Steamers got on the board with four runs in the 2nd inning. Danny Melendez (Finger Lakes CC) delivered a RBI single and Hill connected on a three-run homer to left center. The homer was Hill's first of the season.
Dansville responded in the bottom of the inning with six runs of their own highlighted by a grand slam by Jimmy Kerley. Kerley also keyed a six run 3rd inning with his second grand slam as the Gliders led 12-4 after three.
In the 4th, Hill collected a RBI single for Hornell and Samuel Low singled home a run for the Gliders.
Matt McClements and Devon Lapierre collected RBI singles in a three-run 5th inning.
Robert Chesney (Central Connecticut State) delivered a two-run single in the 6th and the Steamers threatened for more but could not get any closer.
Kerley collected his ninth RBI of the game with a RBI single in the 6th to cap the scoring.
Curtis led Hornell with a 4 for 4, three double game. Hill finished 2 for 4 with 2 RBI while Bobby Bartlett (North Park) was 2 for 2 with a pair of walks.
Kerley finished 4 for 5 with 9 RBI while Lapierre was 3 for 4 with a RBI.
Hornell begins the final week of the regular season on Monday when they host the Horseheads Hitmen. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m.
