The Dansville Gliders used a seven-run 3rd inning to take control of game three of the Western Division Championship series en route to a 14-9 victory. The Gliders advance to the NYCBL Championship vs. the Syracuse Salt Cats.
In the decisive 3rd inning, the Gliders sent 12 batters to the plate and benefited from five Steamer errors. Cooper Berry collected a RBI on a groundout, Aiden Diltz had a RBI fielder's choice and scored on a throwing error after stealing third, Bryant Loving and Carter Shin collected RBI singles, and Reid Martin delivered a two-RBI single to cap the scoring.
Dansville added two more runs with RBI singles by Cameron Abele and Russell Golembe in the 5th.
Abele pitched five no-hit innings. He allowed two walks while striking out four.
Hornell was able to try to mount a comeback off the Glider bullpen. In the 6th, Jackson Legg (LSU Eunice) hit a two-RBI triple and Brody Langlotz (Florida Gulf Coast) hit a RBI single to make it 9-3.
Dansville got those runs back in the 7th when Martin scored on a balk and Diltz delivered a two-RBI double.
In the bottom of inning, Alex Dupuy (LSU Eunice) hit a sac fly to right, Braden McLin (Louisiana Christian) hit a sac fly to right, and Rustin Pope (Coastal Alabama North CC) drew a bases loaded walk to make it 12-6.
Martin hit a RBI single and scored on a fielding error in the 8th to add some insurance runs.
Hornell didn't go away and plated three more runs in the 8th but would not get any closer. McLin drew a bases loaded walk, Nicolas Schwing (Holmes JC) scored on a throwing error, and Pope was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
Abele got the win while Bryant Loving picked up his second save of the day. Loving struck out all four batters he faced.
Martin was 4 for 4 with 3 RBI while Abele was 4 for 5 with a RBI.
Hornell finishes the season 30-9-1. The team had their 17 game winning streak snapped in game two of the series.
Dansville will host game one of the NYCBL finals tomorrow at Babcock Park at 4 p.m.
