The Steamers scored five runs and took their first lead during a huge 5th inning. A bases-clearing triple by Cooper McEnroe (Northwestern State) tied the game before Hernandez connected on a long two-run homer to give the Steamers a 6-4 lead.
The Oilers bounced right back in the top of the 6th, scoring three runs on an RBI grounder and a clutch two-run double by Hartley Rahman and taking the lead 7-6.
The Oilers picked up two much-needed insurance runs in the top of the 8th on a pair of bases-loaded walks by Bryce Neely and Alex Myers.
The Oilers added another insurance run 9th on a throwing error, making the final score of the game 10-6.
