The Watertown Rapids took down the Hornell Steamers 10-1 after a long rain delay. Steamers fall to 7-10-1 on the season while the Rapids move to 6-8.
The Rapids got the scoring started in the 3rd on a three-run homer by Aiden Reis, giving them an early 3-0 lead.
The Steamers answered right back in the bottom half of the inning with a run of their own on an RBI single by Cooper McEnroe (Northwestern State).
The Rapids added to their lead in the 5th inning, scoring three runs on an RBI single by Zac Butler and a two-run double by Aiden Loszynsk.
Watertown did not stop there, scoring four more runs in the 6th inning on an RBI single by Butler, a walk with the bases loaded by Loszynski, and a two-run single by Dylan Simeone.
The Steamers were unable to rally in the final two innings, resulting in a 10-1 loss.
The Steamers were led by Tobey Wright (Monroe CC) who was 2-3 with a double and McEnroe, who picked up an RBI.
Jack Holley led the Rapids to victory, pitching six innings, only giving up one run on four hits, and striking out one batter. The Rapids offense was led by Reis, who was 3-4 with a home run and three RBIs.
The Steamers look to bounce back on Friday, June 27th, against the Hitmen. The first pitch is at 7 p.m.
