Rapids use the big inning en route to victory

The Genesee Rapids scored more than two runs in four innings as they defeated the Hornell Steamers 13-3 on Saturday night.

 

Genesee plated four in the 1st and added two more in the 2nd to jump out to a 6-0 lead. 


Hornell plated two in the 4th when Caleb Cassidy (Pomona Pitzer) scored on a passed ball and Hayden Hernandez (LSU Eunice) collected a RBI single.

 

The Steamers cut it to 6-3 in the 5th on a RBI single by Tobey Wright (Monroe CC). They threatened for more but could not get any closer.

 

Genesee put the game out of reach with three in the 6th and four in the 7th.

 

Diego Cancel Otero was 3 for 5 with 2 RBI while Jerry Guzman was 2 for 3 with 4 RBI for Genesee (16-7).

 

Hornell (10-13-3) was held to just five singles in the game. Wright and Hernandez collected RBI.

 

Hornell is back in action on Sunday when they travel to Horseheads for a 2 p.m. first pitch.
