Sebastian Ecker (Montclair State) threw a complete game six-hit shutout to lift the Hornell Steamers to a 3-0 victory over the Olean Oilers on Saturday night.
Ecker allowed five singles and a double in his complete game effort. He didn't walk a batter and struck out eight, including the final two batters of the game.
Hornell got on the board in the 4th. Markus Brehm (Finger Lakes CC) was hit by a pitch and stole second. After Cooper McEnroe (Northwestern State) reached on a fielding error, Austin Ellis (Northwestern State) drove them both in with a double down the left field line.
The game remaineed 2-0 until the 7th, when Asher Friedman (Alcorn State) hit a solo homer to left to add an insurance run.
Olean put a pair of runners on base with one out in the 9th before Ecker struck out the final two batters to seal the victory.
McEnroe was the lone player in the game with multiple hits finishing 2 for 4.
Hornell heads to Houghton on Sunday for a 2 p.m. battle with the Genesee Rapids.
