Salamanca rallied for four runs in the 8th to rally for a 10-8 win in a game they once led by six runs.
Salamanca jumped out to a 6-0 lead after four innings. They scored one in the 1st, one in the 2nd, and a pair of runs in both the 3rd and 4th inning.
Hornell got things going in the 5th when Logan Hoyt (Hilbert) hit a sacrifice fly to score Ty Kenney (Houghton).
In the 6th, Austin Ellis (Northwestern State) hit a RBI double and Alex Green (Finger Lakes CC) hit a RBI single to make it 6-3.
In the 7th, Markus Brehm (Finger Lakes CC) singled, stole a base, and scored on an error. Cooper McEnroe (Northwestern State) hit a game tying double to deep right field before Kenney gave the Steamers their first lead with a two-RBI double down the left field line.
In the bottom of the 8th, Nate Wolf collected a RBI groundout and Frank Kula hit a two-run double to give the Lizards back the lead. Connor Smith followed with a RBI single to add to the lead.
Kenney was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI while Caleb Cassidy (Pomona Pitzer) was 2 for 4. McEnroe was 2 for 5 with a pair of RBI. Andrew Davis (Genesee CC) kept the Steamers in the game with 4.1 innings of relief. He allowed six hits and three runs while striking out six.
Connor Smith was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI while Kula was 2 for 5 with 2 RBI.
Hornell will take on Olean in the completion of a suspended game on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. The game will start in the 2nd inning with the Oilers leading 4-1.
