Olean defeated Hornell 10-1 in the final matchup between the two teams in 2025. The Oilers improve to 17-12-3 while the Steamers fall to 14-18-3.
The Oilers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st when they were able to score three two-out runs.
Asher Friedman (Alcorn State) cut into the lead in the 4th when he doubled home Jacob Charlson (Webster), who had singled.
Olean put the game out of reach with a big six-run 5th inning and added an insurance run in the 6th.
Hornell was held to just five hits by three Oiler pitchers on the day. Charlson was the lone Steamer with multiple hits finishing 2 for 3 while Friedman had the lone RBI.
Matthew Boffalo was 3 for 5 with a pair of RBI while Josh Wilson was 3 for 5. Carlos Colunga earned the win with 6.1 innings of work. He allowed one earned run on three hits while striking out three.
Hornell hosts Horseheads on Saturday night for a 7 p.m. contest at Maple City Park.
